Marco Di Stefano is a post doctoral researcher at Centro Nacional de Analisis Genomico (CNAG-CRG) in Barcelona (Spain). His research activity is focussed on the 3D modelling of chromosome structure starting from general physical properties of the chromatin fiber and experimental data obtained from FISH imaging and Chromosome Conformation Capture (3C) techniques. He got his PhD at SISSA (International School for Advanced Studies) in Trieste with the thesis, “Structure and dynamics of entangled biopolymers: from knotted DNA to chromosomes”. The main topic of his PhD studies was the characterization of geometrical and topological entanglement (knots) in biopolymers covering a wide range of time and length-scales from chromosome fiber to dsDNA.
